Big news from BeckyBecky Blogs

Last week was a big week for me!

I went viral on TikTok, exhibited at UK Games Expo AND revamped my website.

New-look website

Let’s start with this one. You might have noticed that things look a bit different around here.

I’ve been wanting to share some of my game designs for a while, but my website wasn’t really set up for it. This new version of BeckyBecky Blogs has a dedicated design section to showcase the designs I’m ready to share, and I’m hoping to add more as time goes on.

Some designs are free – currently the Small Council Game megagame mechanic that you can download to playtest for inclusion or adaption in your next megagame, or the game handbooks for Everybody Dies.

Some are available for purchase – the Mystery at the Wedding game that I created for my wedding, which I can customise for your wedding or another special occasion.

And some are licensable – the Trope High and Everybody Dies megagames.

I’ve also updated my About Me section to talk a bit more about who I am and why I’m doing all this.

Don’t worry though – my blog is still here with all of my megagame, escape room, game design and life update posts.

If you have any questions about the new website, or you’d like to talk to me about collaborating on a blog or social media post or commissioning a game, get in touch.

Going viral on TikTok

I’ve been experimenting with TikTok since last December, when I shared a video every day of my Exit Game Advent Calendar (here’s the first video). Since then I’ve been sharing a few videos about board gaming, the Escape Room Puzzle book, and some megagames I’ve been to.

I’ve had a few engaged followers and lovely comments, but it wasn’t until I posted a meme-y video of my husband talking about China possibly declaring war on the USA at the recent First Contact 2035 megagame Very Large Huge Games. At time of writing, the video has over 1.4 million views, and the preceding video explaining what the First Contact megagame was about has 1.1 million views.

Bonkers, right?

I’m making the most of the traffic to really shout about megagames on there – come follow me to get involved in MegagameTok!

For those who aren’t into TikTok, I’m also sharing most of these videos on my Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

Megagames at UK Games Expo

I wasn’t expecting UK Games Expo to be the third most exciting thing to happen last week (actually fourth, since I also passed my driving test last Wednesday). That doesn’t mean it was anything less than excellent though!

I went to the expo all three days, and did two stints on the Megagame Assembly stand promoting megagames to people wandering the Halls. We talked to so many people, and were pleasantly surprised by how many people had heard of megagames already.

We also ran 5 megagames there – Den of Wolves, Aftermath, Event Horizon and two runs of The Raven Banner. I was originally down to control Aftermath on the Saturday, but as they had sufficient control I spent my time filming megagame content and making the most of my time at the expo!

Outside the megagame promo activity, I managed to meet a bunch of the cool people I’ve got to know through Instagram/TikTok and spend some fun time with friends demoing games and playing Arkham Horror. Already looking forward to the 2024 expo!

What a week!

So yes, it’s been a fantastically amazingly busy week, and I’m on such a high from it all. I’d love to hear from anyone who has thoughts on my new website, on my TikTok videos or who is new to my blog and wants to say hello 🙂
